PRE-PURIM EVENTS

In the week leading up to Purim, JRCC centers across the community hosted a variety of events for children and teens, bringing the excitement of the holiday to neighborhoods throughout the region. Highlights included festive Hamentash Bakes in East Thornhill and South Richmond Hill, where young participants rolled dough, filled their own treats, and learned about Purim traditions in a fun, hands-on way. These gatherings helped build anticipation for the holiday while bringing families and friends together to celebrate.

COMMUNITY PURIM PARTIES

On Monday night March 2, communities across the region gathered at JRCC branches for festive Purim celebrations. Each location hosted a lively evening featuring the traditional Megillah reading, followed by music, costumes, and Purim fun for children and families. The joyful gatherings brought neighbors together to hear the Purim story and celebrate the holiday in a warm, spirited atmosphere, with each branch adding its own unique touch to the festivities.

GRAND PURIM BANQUET

More than 500 community members gathered for the annual Grand Purim Banquet, an evening themed “Purim in the Shtetl,” held at Chateau Le Jardin Banquet Hall in Woodbridge. The celebration began with the traditional Megillah reading and continued with a festive sit-down gourmet dinner, live music, dancing, and lively entertainment. Children enjoyed their own special program featuring an exciting show, making the evening a memorable Purim celebration for guests of all ages.
