SHAVUOT ICE CREAM PARTY & TEN COMMANDMENTS
On Monday, June 2, hundreds of children and adults gathered across ten JRCC locations in the GTA to joyfully celebrate Shavuot with the annual reading of the Ten Commandments. Joining Jewish communities worldwide, families commemorated the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai over 3,000 years ago. The beloved Shavuot Ice Cream Party delighted the children, adding a festive and sweet twist to this significant holiday. After the readings, everyone enjoyed a light dairy buffet featuring homemade cheesecakes and other dairy treats, creating a warm and celebratory atmosphere. To accommodate busy schedules, branches hosted multiple readings and parties throughout the day, ensuring that families could participate comfortably. The holiday spirit began the previous evening with traditional all-night learning sessions and the special Kabbalistic Tikun Leil Shavuot. Dozens of community members joined these late-night study sessions and Torah readings, expressing their love for Torah and marking the anticipation of receiving it anew each year. Shavuot at the JRCC continues to grow in spirit and participation, bringing our community closer in joyous celebration and deepening connections to Jewish tradition.
