JRCC Welcoming & Resource Centre
In partnership with other community organizations, the JRCC is working to broaden the array of social services available through our office. Recently, we launched new partnerships with JVS (Jewish Vocational Services) to offer career and employment related guidance at the JRCC. In the first week, we fielded dozens of calls from community members seeking to take advantage of this service, and are working to expand its availability to meet the demand. The JRCC also launched a similar partnership with the Kehillah Residential Programme, which focuses on helping people find affordable housing. In the coming weeks and months, the JRCC is planning add more services as it develops a “Welcoming and Resource Centre” that aims to serve all immigration and social services needs in a comprehensive way, improving access to community programs and forging connection within the community. Inspirational Journey
An estimated fifty thousands people of all walks of life from around the world converged on the Chabad sites in Brooklyn and Queens to commemorate the third of Tammuz, the day of the Rebbe’s passing. A full busload, plus a several people who took their own cars or traveled by plane, made up the contingent from our community. Together, they visited the Ohel, the Rebbe’s holy resting place, and then traveled to 770, the Rebbe’s shul, and the Crown Heights neighborhood, where they enjoyed a communal lunch generously hosted by the Rubashkin family. More than just a trip to mark an important occasion on the Jewish calendar, the trip to the Rebbe is an intensely personal, spiritual experience, with each individual seeking for guidance and answers from the Rebbe’s teachings and spirit.
