Monthly Women’s Events

At last month’s Women’s Rosh Chodesh Gathering, thirty ladies enjoyed a cooking demo with Albina. Rosh Chodesh once again was celebrated with a beautiful party. The JRCC’s monthly women’s parties are a great way to get together with old friends and meet new ones.

Dozens Enjoy Virtual Temple Tours

Dozens of people took a fascinating multimedia tour of the Holy Temple with Rabbi Levi Jacobson. The four-part course, which ran weekly from June 9 to 30, featured a well-researched and informative presentation that included a slideshow with illustrations of Temple, as well as photos of ruins and recent archeological discoveries. Rabbi Jacobson also authored course on the subject, titled Heaven on Earth, which was published by the Jewish Learning Institute in New York, and presented at dozens of Chabad centres around the world – including the JRCC of Thornhill Woods, where Rabbi Chaim Hildeshaim guided participants through a two-part multimedia tour.

During the “three weeks,” when we mourn the destruction of the Temple, children gathered to create original artistic masterpieces of the remaining retaining wall of the Temple – known as the Kotel or the Western Wall. About two dozen children joined the program, which also featured Challah braiding and discussion about the significance of Jerusalem and the Temple.
