WOMEN'S TRIP TO THE REBBE

A group of women from the JRCC community traveled on a
“Journey to the Rebbe” to New York last month. The organized
trip, led by Chanie Zaltzman of the JRCC East Thornhill, was
an inspiring experience that strengthened the participants’
connection with the Rebbe and their own Jewish journey. The
trip included a full itinerary, featuring visits to 770 (the Rebbe’s
synagogue and Chabad headquarters), the Rebbe’s personal
study, the Rebbe’s home, and the Ohel, as well as tours of the broadcasting room and the famous Lubavitch Library housing thousands of volumes original handwritten manuscripts. In addition, there were several lectures and gatherings, a visit to an art gallery, and the opportunity to experience New York’s kosher restaurants and shopping. It was an uplifting retreat for all who participated,

20 AV FARBRENGEN

The 20th of Av (Aug 17, 2022) marked the yahrtzeit of the
Rebbe’s father, Rabbi Levi Yitzchok Schneerson, a kabbalist
and activist who devoted his life, and ultimately gave up his
life, to preserving Judaism in the FSU. Rabbi Levi Yitzchak
was Chief Rabbi of Yekaterinoslav (currently Dnepropetrovsk),
and was arrested and exiled to Kazakhstan by the Stalinist
regime as a result of his work to preserve Jewish life in the
Soviet Union. The day was celebrated with a farbrengen, a Chassidic gathering for a special
occasion, at the JRCC West Thornhill. The day also marks the birthday of Rabbi Levi
Jacobson, director of the JRCC West Thornhill, who was named after the Rebbe’s father.

JRCC DAYCARE RENOVATION

Since its opening in 1994, the JRCC Daycare has been the
first step in the education of thousands of Jewish children. After
28 years of dedicated service to the Russian-speaking Jewish
community, this bastion of Jewish education is undergoing
a much-needed facility improvement. The JRCC’s Leib and
Mindel Gelfand Preschool and Daycare offers an enriching ECE program based on Montessori principles together with a warm, Jewish environment – as well as a variety of extra curricular programs as Music, Art, Computer, Creative Movement, French and Math, in addition to holiday celebrations and monthly field trips.
