Challah Baking for Women

According to Jewish tradition, when women gather together to bake challah for Shabbat, it is an auspicious event that can elicit tremendous blessing and positive energy – to heal the sick, cure infertility, and bring the warmth and love of Yiddishkeit into our homes. Each month, different JRCC branches host Challah baking events to tap into this potential. Last month, women gathered at the JRCC West Thornhill to bake Challahs together and with their daughters. Each participant also baked an additional Challah to deliver to a friend in need of blessing or a little love. At the JRCC East Thornhill, women gathered to bake Challah as well as Hamantaschen, the traditional Purim treat, in anticipation of Purim which occurs this month. In addition to being a unique and enjoyable social and spiritual experience, many women also find the gatherings very therapeutic.
