Current Position: JRCC Jewish identity Program Coordinator (This program is important for every Jew. Confirming ourJewish originis important to help our children and all future generations to preserve their Jewishness.)

Where is your family from, and how long have you lived in Ontario?

My father’s family is from Odessa, and my mother from Chernivtsi. They met in Moscow as students, and they married and settled in Moscow. So I am a Muscovite, born in Moscow. But I remember as a child visiting my grandparents in Chernivtsi and Odessa. In 1979, when I was almost 7 years old, we moved from Moscow to Israel, where we joined my uncle, my mother's brother, who immigrated to Israel before us. We came to Canada in 1990, and have been living in Ontario for 24 years.

Why did you choose this area?

First, my parents settled in the Bathurst and Steeles area. After I got married my husband and I eventually bought a house in Thornhill. We chose Thornhill because of its Jewish character. We were attracted by the fact that in this area live many Jews and there are many synagogues.

What do you do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

I spend most of my time with my three children, Keren (15), Adam (13) and Emily (10). Aside for my part-time work at the JRCC, I am busy taking care of my house and children, and I spend much time checking their school lessons. On Sundays I usually bring children to their friends, or we go together somewhere for dinner. I also have a dog named Buba-Simcha who I love to play with.

If you were given the opportunity to meet anyone, alive or dead, who would you choose, and why?

I would like to meet with my beloved grandmother (my mother's mother), Rivka. She is very dear to me. She always had interesting stories to tell, and she taught me a lot. I do not even know how to explain it... She was a very interesting, sympathetic woman, in spite of the hard life and all that she had to endure. She passed away 16 years ago and I really miss her love.

Do you participate in JRCC programs?

I started to get more involved in JRCC programs after I began working here and discovered the wonderful things available in the

What are your future plans?

My plan is to raise my children together with my husband so that they will be intelligent, kind, good people, and good Jews.
